    Welcome to the first edition of the Get Out of Debt Carnival.  My goal is for this to become the best blog carnival for people looking for articles on how to get out of debt.  But, despite this goal, I am not going to limit it to only topics about debt reduction.

    One of the stresses that people have when changing jobs is how to rollover a 401k from their old employer.  Luckly for us Patrick from Cash Money Life wrote a great article on how to rollover a 401K plan into an IRA.  His article is a great guide for how to rollover your 401k.

    In Patrick's guide he describes how to open an IRA, how to rollover you 401k assets, and general 401k advice.  One of the things that Patrick explains really well is how to to a trustee-to-trustee transfer.  The trustee-to-trustee transfer is the most important part of the 401k rollover.  If you do not do this type of transfer, you don't have to worry about the 20% tax withholding that occurs if you do an indirect 401K rollover.

    So, head on over to Cash Money Life and read Patrick's guide.  It is excellent.

    Many of you know that I am a big fan of Dave Ramsey.  One of Dave's biggest pearl's of wisdom is to always buy used  cars.  Every weekend here on The Debt Hawk I am going to provide some Ebay car listings that are perfect for someone getting out of debt.

    The Internet is one of the best places to find free entertainment.  Today, I wanted tell you about a great website I found for free downloadable audiobooks - ThoughtAudio.com.

    I love audiobooks.  They are one of the best ways to read more books.  I used to subscribe to Audible.com, but canceled my subscription this year to cut down on my expenses.  But, with Thoughtaudio.com you can find some great free audiobooks.

    The audiobooks on ThoughtAudio.com seems to be books that are no longer under copyright protection, but man, you can find some great classics to listen to, like

    • The Prince by Machiavelli
    • Call of the Wild by Jack London
    • Red Badge of Courage by Stephen Crane
    • The Apology of Socrates by Plato
