I believe that totalitarian governments generally disrespect International law more than democratic countries. Totalitarian regimes don’t respect individual rights. This disregard for human life translates into atrocities committed against their own people and the people of other countries.

That’s an amazing experience to have had at such a young age! And for you to follow up on it in university is impressive. I have not been to Russia myself yet. But another problem, perhaps bigger, with the SU is how they invaded other countries and politically terrorized huge groups of people. Eastern European countries didn’t want to be ruled by a neighboring dictator.

My father is reading this book and I want to read it a some point…I think you sum it up best:

“Well, my belief in individual liberty greatly influences my beliefs about personal finance. Along with individual liberty comes individual responsibility. People need to take control of their lives and finances.”
